The Minister for Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has stated that the agricultural export earnings of the country are bound to grow 8 times the current amount in the next ten years.
This information comes at a critical time since the economy is in the recovery phase following the harm done by the Covid 19 virus.
He stated “Looking into the future, we can project that agricultural export earnings will grow by about 8 times in the next decade mainly because of a number of interventions including the effort that the tree crop development authority has started rolling out”
The export earnings currently sit at about 2.5 billion dollars after falling from a high of 3.87 billion dollars in 2019 and are estimated to be valued at about 20 billion Dollars by 2031.
Since 2008, agricultural export earnings have risen from an all-time low of 1.27 billion dollars in the 2010 export year to an all-time high of 4.69 billion dollars in 2018.
The data now suggests we have successfully consolidated the efforts at food security, particularly of our staples and now our export numbers are looking encouraging
